For Tour Down Under 2018 I planned a 230km route, going home from Uraidla through the Adelaide Hills. The day was cancelled due to extreme weather, and I chose to stay out of the hills because of the fire danger.
I rode my own Clayton's TDU by riding down to FMC to see my Mum, over to the coast, up to the Torrens and then up the Linear Park to the beginning of the Gorge. I saw the TDU race Peloton as I arrived. I returned to the beach and followed the coast up to Port Adelaide and then went home via Cormack Road and Mawson Lakes.
165km all up, and a good ride. I was very pleased with how I managed the water intake, putting down 8 750 mil bidons + a Gatorade. 19.5kmh which was very good given the heat. I reckon I saw 48 degrees on the GPS for a fair bit of the way up the park, but the final readout claims only to have seen 46. What's two degrees among friends?
It was almost tolerable in the breeze under the bridges
Almost back to the beach...
