Recently One Man's Web has been attacked by a pornographer.  Thousands of messages purporting to come from us have sent out advertising  a porn website.  I am offended and disgusted by these bottom feeders on several counts.

Firstly, they lie.  One Man's Web is against all that pornographers stand for.

Second, they slander our good name.  If I am able to track them down I will sue them for defamation and theft of identity.

Third, their profiting in human slavery and misery is at our expense.  Those thousands of bounced emails download to our server. We  have to pay for their excrement.

Most offensive of all, however is the traffic in human misery which these scumbags feed from.  It is different only in degree from the slave trade- and often only in small degree.  Here in Australia we have just had arrests for sexual slavery; Thai women brought to Australia and forced to work as prostitutes.

Pornography is wrong because in treats people as objects.  It detracts from their humanity.  The ideal of sexual partnership is a mutual enjoyment and growth of persons.  Pornography is the mere gratification of one person at the expense of another.  One person becomes an economic commodity.

Some would argue that the object of a pornographic exercise has gone into the situation willingly- "the PhD student working her way through Law School" excuse.  This conveniently ignores those who are not willing, who are literally enslaved, or through economic necessity find there is no other option for survival.  It also ignores the fact that this 'service' harms the viewer.  It encourages the viewer to treat other people as objects and derails them from real human relationships where nurture and growth is possible.

The final wrongness of pornography is the content that it sends to people.  Demeaning and ridiculing the great human right to free speech and expression, it sends filth indiscriminately into the inboxes of man woman and child alike.  People turn on their screen to be confronted with violent and disgusting crap they did not seek.  Pornographers trawl the net, harvesting email addresses at random, abusing the innocent at every level with promises of fulfilment, objectivising people, encouraging violence, all the while being little better than animals.  They are slime from the septic tank who should be no more tolerated than the slave traders of old or the present day slavers they undergird.

This current attack on One Man's Web is being perpetrated by a scumbag site called Sex Now 4 Free- a lie in itself.  The domain is registered to one Xavier Lumine and the Sigma Corporation- also lies I suspect.  I doubt there will be an answer to my emails.

Spammers hide behind the ability to be relatively anonymous on the Net, and claim the right to free speech.  This "Lumine", the very opposite of his pseudonym, must have bank accounts to run his morally maggotted business.  He is only allowed to persist in his harassment of people and his slander of others by a lack of political will, and the confusion of freedom of speech with social responsibility so rife in the United States of America.

Allowing the phenomenon of address spoofing to exist for pornographers has serious implications.  Anonymous registration of domains under false names and unsanctioned spoofing enables false advertising of products with product claims which will undermine an enterprise, or even be used secretly by and organisation to advertise falsely to its benefit and then claim, when caught that it was someone else.  And how many individuals with limited resources can be attacked like this?  What would it do in Adelaide if some one posing as the Anglican Archbishop were to send out child porn emails?  If I did this in paper envelopes it would be called criminal libel.  But in our acceptance of spam we have no defence against it.

It will always be difficult to  draw a line between what is acceptable artistic or political expression.  There should always be objectionable publications rather than restriction of the right to expression... which too easily becomes censorship by the powerful for their unjust economic and political gain. And it if we look in Google, we should be able to find such filth among the gems of human artistry.  But that is a far cry from tolerating the invasion of people's lives with such garbage.
