Andrew Prior

I was born in Australia in 1955. I grew up on a mixed farm, did a degree in agricultural science, and worked as a community development person with Pitjantjatjara people in the late 70's and early 80's. Later I trained as a Uniting Church Minister, serving in several parishes for around ten years. Still a Minister, I also work as an IT and Values Consultant, building and maintaining networks, and helping people in their IT planning and Strategies.

I sometimes still use the pseudonym "Jan" because the voice I write in is not always my own. There is also a temptation for us to think that if we know the author, we can identify their writing with a situation we know a little about. I do not simply transfer real life situations to these pages, but it is inevitable that we add to what is written on the basis of what we think we know of the author. So, to relieve people from guessing wrongly, or wrongly assuming things about my family and parish, I sometimes write as Jan.
