Day Nine: Nyngan

Australian Cityscape

Today I have entered the Shire of Bogan.

I’m camped on the Bogan River at Nyngan and will head for Gilgandra tomorrow.  A very tiring day with sometimes very rough bitumen which I reckon we would pull up and give to the church Op Shop in South Australia. Other places have been glass smooth, so all in all I can’t complain.

I met two German girls staffing the bar at the Hemidale Hotel. They had arrived the night before and wanted to know where  was going. When I said Nyngan, the next town, they had no idea where that is.  I’m not sure they really had any idea where in Australia they  are! Hemidale is a pub and about five houses in the middle of nowhere, so it must be a fair culture shock!
